This Stanning Desert Home may be VEGAS’ BEST KEPT SECRET

June 8, 2015

In the Nevada desert, just a stone’s throw from Las Vegas Boulevard, lies CAVU, a 13,000-square-foot home built by architects Jon Sparer and John Klai. The names may not ring a bell in quite the same way their business associate Steve Wynn’s name does, but on the hospitality design circuit, Sparer and Klai are something of celebrities, known best for designing Vegas’ Mandalay Bay hotel, the Borgata in Atlantic City and the MGM in Macau.

CAVU, their latest work, is garnering some celebrity of its own among Hollywood producers, Vegas entertainers and music moguls looking to rent out the secluded retreat. And the interest is understandable, given the property’s impressive specs.

Beyond its five bedrooms and nine bathrooms, the home boasts a library with a fire feature and adjacent outdoor shower, an outdoor kitchen with a wood burning pizza oven, an 1,800+ bottle wine cellar, a Vichy spa and a bowling alley. The master suite occupies the entire top floor of the three story home, and features a soaking tub, an under-bed retractable TV and floor-to-ceiling views of the surrounding desert. You can also see the Las Vegas strip from one of the rooms. By our estimates, the only things missing are the slot machines.

And while the owners have been enjoying the luxurious amenities and entertaining celebrity requests since the home was built in 2010, their ultimate goal is to sell it, and have currently listed the property for $12.5 million.
