The 68th annual Cannes Film Festival

The 68th annual Cannes Film Festival is currently being held from 13 to 24 May 2015.  Joel and Ethan Coen have been announced as the Presidents of the Jury for the main competition.  It is the first time that two people will chair the jury. Since the Coen brothers will each get a separate vote, they will be joined by seven other jurors to form the customary nine-juror panel.  French actor Lambert Wilson has been announced as the host for the opening and closing ceremonies.

Sienna Miller wears black and white to the Cannes Film Festival kickoff. For her first day at Cannes, the official jury member chose a textured black and white Balenciaga look from the brand’s FW 2015 runway.

The festival poster features Hollywood star and Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman, photographed by David Seymour. The poster was chosen to pay tribute to Bergman for her contributions to films and who also served as the Jury President at 1973 Cannes Film Festival. As part of the tribute to Bergman, the Swedish documentary documentary Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words will be featured in the Cannes Classics section.

Standing Tall, directed by Emmanuelle Bercot, was announced as the festival’s opening film. This will be the second opening film in the festival’s history to have been directed by a woman, the first being A Man in Love by Diane Kuryswhich opened the 1987 Cannes Film Festival.  Ice and the Sky, directed by Luc Jacquet, has been announced as the festival’s closing film.  Both the opening and closing films were selected for the strength and importance of their messages—Standing Tall for the way its themes respond to the Charlie Hebdo shootings and Ice and the Sky for its concern for the future of the planet.

French model and actress Noemie Lenoir wears a bright yellow Chloe dress on the opening day of the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival.

The Ethiopian born-model, who is in France with fellow L’Oréal beauties Karlie Kloss and Doutzen Kroes, was one of the only women that went short on the Cannes carpet in a silver and goid Louis Vuitton dress from the Fall/WInter 2015 collection paired with thick-strap black heels.

The legendary French actress is at the festival to promote her new film, “La Tete Haute (“Standing Tall”). She wore head-to-toe Louis Vuitton (she was in Palm Springs for the brand’s resort show) and toldreporters that she’s mourning the “death of glamour.” She said: “I detest selfies, photographing yourself all the time … it makes everything banal.”

British reality star turned model Emma Miller wore sunshine yellow to the Cannes premiere of “La Tete Haute” on Wednesday. The aspiring actress was already in the south of France for Dior’s resort show.

French film director Agnès Varda will be presented with the honorary Palme d’Or at the festival’s closing ceremony. She is also the first female filmmaker to ever receive the award.
