The 80 year old, legendary couturiér designed a collection to salute the graceful, substantial and resilient woman of today. That is not to say that there wasn’t a multitude of opulent red carpet possibilities, but they were less about mass and more about arrangement, technique and symbolism – something he called “simple elegance”. There was certainly an unanticipated simplicity and transparency in his approach, stemming from one single reoccurring motif on almost all pieces – the bamboo plant, meant to convey a message of delicacy and métier.
